Maternity Leave

Please refer to the Manual of Staff Policies for Academics/Librarians for the maternity and parental leave policy that will govern your leave. A summary of the policies in this Manual can also be found on the Human Resources and Equity web site. If you have any questions about the university policy, you can contact your Human Resources Generalist or the Family Care Office.

Parental Leave

Please refer to the Manual of Staff Policies for Academics/Librarians for the parental leave policy that will govern your leave. Adoption Leave

Please refer to the Manual of Staff Policies for Academics/Librarians for the adoption leave policy that will govern your leave. A summary of the policies in this Manual can also be found on the Human Resources and Equity web site. If you have any questions about the university policy, you can contact your Human Resources Generalist or the Family Care Office.

Compassionate Care Leave

A faculty member or librarian may arrange short-term compassionate and emergency leave with his or her Chair, Dean, Principal, or library supervisor with no loss of salary or benefits. Requests for such leaves shall not be unreasonably denied.

Additional Leaves

There are unpaid, job-protected leaves that you may be able to access if you are caring for a seriously ill family member. Employment Insurance (EI) benefits may be available for some of these leaves.

Maternity, Parental, and Adoption Leave packages are available from the Family Care Office. Each package contains the following:
