Who We Are

The mission of the Family Care Office is to assist individuals who are navigating the challenges of balancing family responsibilities with education and/or work. Our staff is committed to developing knowledge, researching resources, working collaboratively with other departments, and implementing policies which promote educational and employment equity in order that U of T can continue to provide a caring and supportive work and study environment.

Mandate

The University of Toronto Family Care Office's mandate is to support students, staff, faculty and their families with any family care issue by providing information, guidance, referrals and advocacy. The Family Care Office has always emphasized an inclusive definition of family. Thus, any member of the University community is entitled, for the purposes of the Office, to define family as it is most appropriate for his/her own circumstances. The Office is committed to providing culturally sensitive service to clients. Referrals are offered to a wide array of resources including those that have a specific faith or cultural perspective. Through all of its functions, the Family Care Office aims to raise awareness of family care issues and of quality of life issues central to the achievement of educational equity and employment equity at the University of Toronto.

Who We Serve

Our mandate is to support the University of Toronto students, staff, faculty and their families with any family care related issue.
